Launched in the early 2000s, They Had Four Years (TH4Y) is Generator’s annual flagship graduate show developed to support artists in continuing to develop their practice after leaving art school.

Every spring, the Generator committee tours all of Scotland’s degree shows before issuing a call for proposals to the artists whose work we (feel shows exciting development potential). This year's exhibiting artists are; Anna Tewungwa, Jock Thomson, Nina Price, Sam Black & Thea Moston.

Each artist has taken the opportunity to challenge what was learned within those matte white walls of art schools and move towards a self-sustaining art practice beyond the institution.
