Visual Artist Unit is an artist led not for profit Community Interest Company based in Scotland. VAU commits itself to supporting emerging artists in Scotland and improving public engagement and access to contemporary art for the wider community.

Emerging artists are invited to become artist members of VAU for support to develop their practice and gain professional development experience by participating in VAU’s public engagement program.

VAU hosts a range of exciting and innovative exhibitions, workshops, talks, commissions and events across Scotland, which aim to build bridges between artists and the public, helping improve access and engagement in contemporary art.

Each year, VAU hosts an Annual Members Show in a different location, showcasing individual works by each artist member of the collective and the VAU management committee. The Annual Members Show aims to encourage the production of new work and upcoming talent. VAU recognizes the difficulties and challenges that emerging and practicing artists can face in promoting their work and practice and therefore realize the importance of a continually reliable platform in which our members can exhibit work to a wider audience.

This year’s show, held at Generator Projects in Dundee, consists of works by all 32 members of VAU, and includes a mixture of painting, sculpture, installation, photography, film work, ceramics and jewellery.
