GENERATORprojects SEEKS BOARD MEMBERS

GENERATORprojects seeks Board!

GENERATORprojects are currently seeking a new Board of Trustees, who will work alongside our operational committee to carry the organisation into an exciting new chapter of our long and extremely generative life.

About Us

GENERATORprojects is a Dundee based artist-run initiative founded in 1996 by friends Paul Liam Harrison, Andy Kennedy and Caroline McIntee. It has since been led by a rolling committee of artists and arts workers, who facilitate a diverse cultural programme of exhibitions and events. We strive to highlight the importance of grassroots arts activity and its imperative role in sustaining and developing the careers of emerging artists.

About the Board

As this is GENERATOR’s first Board under our new constitutional structure, the selected Trustees will be vital in supporting this transition while maintaining the organisation's existing ethos and legacy. We are looking to select a diverse group of Trustees who are eager to support our Committee and champion our organisation, who are from a range of backgrounds but hold a shared commitment to artist-led activity in Dundee, the advancement of contemporary art and culture, and peer-led education and support.

About the role

GENERATOR operates in a collaborative, non-hierarchical structure, and is looking to carry this ethos into the new Board/Committee relationship. As such, the role will be shaped in collaboration with GENERATOR’s current committee, with the aim to write new policy around Board and Committee dynamics and responsibilities. In the interim, we suggest the following outline of the role:

  • Being an ambassador for the organisation, championing its work, and lending your voice to represent the Committee outwith the organisation as and when required.

  • Acting as a support system for the Committee, working in an advisory capacity to resolve issues and meet the organisation's aims, as and when required.

  • Offering oversight and accountability for the organisation in relation to its finances and governance.

  • Helping maintain GENERATOR’s institutional memory, avoiding loss of valuable knowledge and skills.

The Board will meet a minimum of six times per year, including one Annual General Meeting, and one social, relationship building event with the Operational Committee.

This is a voluntary - i.e. unpaid - non-executive role. The day to day administrative, maintenance and programming responsibilities of the organisation will remain with the Operational Committee.

If you would like to know more about this role, or access a copy of GENERATOR’s governing documents in advance of applying, please don’t hesitate to get in touch via board@generatorprojects.co.uk

The deadline for applications is 5pm on Monday the 30th of January.
